Academics
Curro Langebaan is an independent Curro School in Langebaan, along the West Coast, with a high school that provides high-quality education to learners from Grade 8 to Grade 12 with boarding school facilities. We follow a high-quality approach as ensured only by a Curro education, which is presented in small class sizes and in English and Afrikaans. As part of our holistic approach, we empower learners with 21st-century skills and knowledge to grow into self-confident individuals while preparing them for the IEB examination at the end of Grade 12. With specialised subjects, the use of tablets in class and dedicated teachers, we are the school of choice on the West Coast.
Senior phase: Grade 8 and Grade 9
In these grades, we guide learners to adjust to a greater workload of higher intensity. With dedicated teachers and small class sizes, our enhanced curriculum approach places great emphasis on problem-solving and individual thinking. Teaching takes place in English or Afrikaans, and 21st-century skills are implemented in subjects such as Technology. As a Curro School our learners also receive guidance when choosing their elective subjects at the end of Grade 9. This further ensures that they can optimally benefit from our unique Curro education as made possible by our school fees.
FET phase: Grade 10 to Grade 12
This phase prepares learners for the IEB examinations written at the end of Grade 12. However, through our enhanced curriculum we emphasise a greater world-readiness rather than a purely examination-driven approach. As part of our excellent Curro education, our learners are taught to think innovatively, express their ideas and take charge of their own lives to be valued members of the community. Classes are presented in English and Afrikaans, but learners in our small class sizes may choose in which of these languages they wish to write tests and exams. As a Curro School some of our specialised subjects to promote the development of 21st-century skills include Engineering Graphics and Design (EGD) and Electrical Technology. The use and understanding gained in these subjects can be ensured only by our excellent Curro education.
We use tablets in class
Curro Langebaan learners may choose to use tablets in class (as well as laptops and cellphones) rather than textbooks, or as a tool to enhance learning. This further prepares them for the workplace of the future.

A wider subject choice
High school learners can now extend their subject choices beyond what is offered at our school. Learners can choose from a wide range of subjects, and classes will take place during the school day in the form of live lessons with teachers. These subjects can be seen as an extension of our excellent Curro education. Learners remain enrolled at our school, they still write the IEB exam, and their marks reflect on regular progress reports. School activities
We believe that participation in school sports and cultural activities plays an important role in promoting health, team-awareness, discipline and self-confidence in addition to physical and social well-being. As our school has a strong school sports performance record, we offer a wide variety of activities as part of our school fees, including specialised activities such as swimming. Learners who play orchestral instruments may audition for the West Coast Youth Orchestra, which rehearses at our premises.
We have a school newspaper
Learners at our Curro School also have the option to be actively involved in our school newspaper, the Currant, which helps theme develop their writing, communication and 21st-century skills.

Curro Create
As a Curro School we offer Curro Create programmes aimed at helping learners develop their creative talents to their full potential. Curro Arts Superhero (CAS) is an internal creative mentorship platform with a grading element, where learners are encouraged to discover, develop and display their inherent 21st-century skills and creative talents. Learners can also participate in the annual Curro Create National Youth Theatre Festival, wherein schools enter a one-act play in any genre and official language. The winning plays are chosen through a series of adjudications by world-class theatre-makers, who closely mentor learners throughout the process as part of our school fees.
