Our aftercare service is available to primary school learners at an additional cost, as stipulated on our fees letter (see Downloads). Learners are accommodated in safe classrooms and playgrounds, and the fees include a freshly prepared meal for lunch, supervision and limited homework support.
Our boarding school offers safe, modern accommodation for learners from Grade 6. With a maximum of four learners per room, free Wi-Fi, laundry and housekeeping facilities, comfortable learning areas, and supervision by dedicated teachers and assistants, our boarding school is a safe, comforting home away from home.
Our school transport service is available to learners travelling to and from our school, at an additional cost as stipulated in our fees letter (see Downloads). Pick-up and drop-off points are available in Academia, Pioneers Park, Dorado Park and Hochland Park.
As a Curro Select school, our school’s facilities are designed to accommodate a wide variety of sports and cultural activities on the premises. Our activity facilities include a 1 000-seater school hall, a tuck shop and coffee shop, Rhino-Turf rugby fields, netball/tennis courts, cloakrooms, cricket nets and an AstroTurf hockey field.
We have created a safe, modern environment in which children in small class sizes can grow accustomed to learning and working with modern equipment and facilities. Our classrooms are designed to create a feeling of learning through educational decorations, but without causing undue distraction.
Classrooms for specialised subjects, such as Technology and Physical Sciences, are equipped with tools that allow learners in small class sizes to interact with the learned material through experiments or projects – in addition to our quality online school option.
Parent Advisory Committee (PAC)
As a Curro Select school, we encourage parents to play a role in managing our school through a duly elected parent advisory committee (PAC). As the name indicates, the PAC’s role is strictly an advisory one – they do not make and enforce decisions regarding school matters. The committee comprises parents of current learners.
Our PAC acts as liaison between the school and parents, raises funds through specific events throughout the year, and hosts social and fellowship events. Through the PAC, parents can share their input in a structured manner to the benefit of the learners and the school. As a school community, they can, therefore, be involved in the operational success of the school.
We have an online school
Our quality online school option is available to learners from Grade 4. Rather than attend physical classes, learners can learn from home through online lessons and online or physical learning materials – with no need for parents to teach. They can be in touch with their teachers regularly, and all examinations continue to be written at school, although continuous online assessment may occur. In addition, the nature of our quality online school allows for more affordable school fees.
Windhoek Gymnasium history
On 17 January 2007, our school opened its doors for the first time, with 280 learners from Grades 1 to 8. This number grew to 340 learners towards the end of 2007 and, in 2008, we added the secondary school. Our total number of learners then grew to 700.
We joined Curro in 2016
In 2009, we added the pre-primary section, with 150 children. This remarkable growth proved to us that our school indeed offers what parents want for their children – a balance between academics, sport and culture, all of a high standard. On 1 March 2016, we proudly became a Curro Select school and, today, we have more than 2 300 learners.
