Caring, compassionate staff, generous entertainment areas; true, lasting friendships; delicious, healthy meals … your child can enjoy this and more while living at our boarding school.

Welcome home

At Windhoek Gymnasium, we know that learners perform best when they feel safe, supported, and comfortable in their living spaces. This is why we went to great lengths to create a warm, caring home where your child can enjoy their school years while being support academically, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Note that we accommodate primary school boarders only from Grade 6.

Our boarding school parents act as counsellors of sorts, and monitor boarders’ academic progress and well-being. They also build close relationships with each boarder and provide extra care should they become homesick. You as parent are also welcome to visit at any time.

What we offer

Boarders enjoy three healthy, balanced meals a day and we carefully accommodate dietary requirements. Due to sports and other activities, we serve a light lunch so that boarders don’t feel uncomfortable while exercising. Furthermore, each floor has a communal living area with DStv, microwave, kettle, fridge, stove and oven.

Boarders may decorate their rooms to make them feel at home and we have an entertainment area in both the boys’ and girls’ house, where they can relax and spend time with their friends while playing board games or table tennis. We also braai together on Saturday afternoons.

The housing arrangements

Boys and girls live in separate sections of the house, with no access to each other’s sections. Each section has a communal living area, although they share a dining room and study hall for a healthy dose of interaction.

Our boarding school does not have any long hallways and communal bathroom facilities. We accommodate a maximum of 23 boarders per floor with no more than four boarders per room. Each room also has an en-suite bathroom. Each boarder also has their own cubicle, book shelf and built-in cupboard for privacy.
