Grantleigh high school is an independent Curro Select school situated just north of Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, that provides high-quality education for learners from Grade 8 to Grade 12, at the end of which the IEB examinations are written. As a Curro Select school, our small class sizes, enhanced curriculum (which includes the use of tablets in class) and dedicated teachers provide learners with 21st-century skills and knowledge to grow into self-confident individuals.
At Grantleigh, our school philosophy is based on Christian values (ethics and morals) and we believe in fostering learners’ development so they can each reach their dreams.
Middle school phase: Grade 8 and Grade 9
In these grades, we guide learners to adjust to a greater workload of higher intensity. As a Curro Select school, our enhanced curriculum places a great emphasis on problem solving and individual thinking, while 21st-century skills are taught in subjects such as Technology and Natural Sciences. Furthermore, our curriculum (offered in small class sizes) is designed so that learners are afforded opportunities to take responsibility for different aspects of school life. Afrikaans and isiZulu are offered as additional language options and learners receive guidance when choosing their elective subjects at the end of Grade 9.
FET phase: Grade 10 to Grade 12
With dedicated teachers and small class sizes, this phase prepares learners for the IEB examinations written at the end of Grade 12. However, we emphasise a greater world-readiness rather than a purely examinations-driven approach. Through our enhanced curriculum and small class sizes, learners are taught to think innovatively, express their ideas and take charge of their own lives to one day reach their goals and become self-confident, achieving adults. Some of our specialised subjects include Engineering Graphics and Design (EGD). Afrikaans and isiZulu are offered as additional language options.
We use tablets in class
As a Curro Select school, Grantleigh aims to embrace 21st-century skills by incorporating the use of tablets in class from this phase onwards. Using tablets allows teachers to provide learners with a wealth of information at the touch of a button and prepares them for the workplace of the future.

A wider subject choice
High-school learners can now extend their subject choices beyond what is offered at our school. Learners can choose from a wide range of subjects, and classes will take place during the school day in the form of live lessons with teachers. These subjects can be seen as an extension of our enhanced curriculum from which our learners already benefit. Find out which subjects are available, and gain more information about this personalised learning experience. Please note that the listed subjects are available to all learners in the Curro group and some of these subjects are indeed offered at Grantleigh. Learners may also choose to take a specific subject as an additional subject via this online offering.
