Curro Century City is an independent school in Century City, Cape Town, that provides high-quality education for learners from Grade 8 to Grade 12. Our dedicated teachers and well-rounded approach prepare learners for the IEB examinations at the end of Grade 12. With small class sizes, dedicated teachers, and an enhanced curriculum, we empower learners with 21st-century skills and knowledge to grow into high-performing, self-confident individuals who are ready to become the leaders of the future.
Senior phase: Grade 8 and Grade 9
In these grades, we guide learners to adjust to a greater workload of higher intensity. With dedicated teachers and affordable school fees, our enhanced approach places great emphasis on problem-solving and individual thinking. Teaching in our small class sizes takes place in English or Afrikaans, and learners gain 21st-century skills in subjects such as Technology (which includes the use of 3D printing). As a Curro School, our learners also receive guidance when choosing their elective subjects at the end of Grade 9 and have Afrikaans and isiXhosa as additional language options.
FET phase: Grade 10 to Grade 12
This phase prepares learners for the IEB examinations written at the end of Grade 12. However, we emphasise a greater world-readiness rather than a purely examinations-driven approach. Our learners are taught to think innovatively, express their ideas and take charge of their own lives – all highly-valued 21st-century skills. Furthermore, as a Curro School, 21st-century learning is implemented in subjects such as Information Technology and Engineering Graphics and Design. Our learners also use tablets in class rather than textbooks for certain subjects.
We use tablets in class
As a Curro School, our high school learners may use tablets in class rather than textbooks as part of our enhanced curriculum. By exposing learners in our small class sizes to the daily use of technology, they are better prepared for the challenges of tertiary studies as well as the ever-changing workplace of the future.
We teach conversational English to foreign learners
As part of our enhanced curriculum, we have engaged TEFL (Teaching English Foreign Language) graduates to teach English as a conversational language to learners in small groups. This particularly benefits learners who speak English as a third language, or who are still learning to speak English.

A wider subject choice
High-school learners can now extend their subject choices beyond what is offered at our school. Learners can choose from a wide range of subjects, and classes will take place during the school day in the form of live lessons with teachers. These subjects can be seen as an extension of our enhanced curriculum from which our learners already benefit. Curro Century City activities
As a Curro School, we believe that sport plays an important role in promoting friendship, team-awareness and self-confidence in addition to physical well-being. Therefore, we offer a variety of sports activities that include specialised activities such as Curro tennis and Curro golf. While healthy competition is encouraged, the enjoyment of the game is not compromised. Activities such as chess further help to stimulate thinking patterns such as logical analysis and problem-solving, which help to improve aptitude in subjects such as Mathematics.
Curro Tennis is an initiative aimed at developing tennis players into well-rounded athletes who are technically, tactically, and mentally superior. To achieve this, we have established high-performance centres at schools across the country, which drive cutting-edge coaching and development of techniques. We also provide the best possible coaches to ensure that our learners receive world-class training. Our learners also benefit from regular training, planned workshops, and the opportunity to test their skills during tournaments against international teams
We offer two Curro Create programmes aimed at helping learners develop their creative talents to their full potential: Curro Arts Superhero (CAS) is an internal creative mentorship platform with a grading element, where learners are encouraged to discover, develop and display their inherent creative talents. Learners can also participate in the annual Curro Create National Youth Theatre Festival, wherein schools enter a one-act play in any genre and official language. The winning plays are chosen through a series of adjudications by world-class theatre-makers, who closely mentor learners throughout the process.
Film and media hub
At our school, we mould future directors, actors, videographers, cameramen and sound engineers. Our film-and-media hub is conducted in a free, experimental environment harnessing the creative spark within our learners who aspire to enter the world of the arts. The hub focuses on four disciplines, namely film studies, sound engineering, photography, and music production.
