Curro Digital Schools

The Curro group has a unique approach to learning by offering two forms of digital learning: digital learning within a classroom led by expert teachers, and a fully-online school where learners attend classes from home. These schools teach learners from Grade 6 to Grade 12 (depending on the campus) through digital tools such as tutorials, simulations, videos, as well as textbooks – and live lessons with teachers where appropriate.

How does digital learning in a classroom work?

Schools following this approach are called DigiEd schools. Classes are led by subject-expert teachers, and learners then follow the syllabus through textbooks as well as videos, simulations and tutorials on the Curro Learning Platform (based on Moodle). When learners have questions, the teacher comes to them to offer individual help for as long as they need. This approach guides learners towards a clear understanding of self-directed learning.

Modern, technology-rich classrooms

As part of the Curro DigiEd education, our classrooms are set up to maximise technology and digital learning. Each learner has a dedicated laptop or computer and headset (which stay in class), and the class layout allow space for teachers to comfortably move between learners for assistance. Subjects such as Technology or Coding and Robotics are offered in classrooms that are uniquely fitted with the required equipment.

How can learners attend class from home?

At Curro Online – a fully online school – all classes are presented through live lessons with teachers instead of solely through pre-recorded sessions. The school day is also structured with regular periods, breaks and school holidays, just like any brick-and-mortar school. Lessons are recorded for further revision or for absent learners to catch up on the work. Teachers engage learners in conversation throughout the lesson and learners can ask questions. Learners are also required to always keep their cameras on, so that teachers can notice when their attention wavers.

The location-free nature of an online school makes this model ideal for learners with physical disabilities, families who need to travel often and for learners who emigrate to or from other countries.

Can learners participate in sports and cultural activities?

Yes, they can. Our DigiEd schools offer popular activities such as soccer, netball, choir, and more (depending on the school). Learners at Curro Online can participate in sports and cultural activities that are offered by a nearby school in the Curro group.

Can I transfer to other schools?

Yes, learners can easily transfer to any school in the group, even to other schooling models. When transferring to a new school, you would be fully enrolled and would need to consider their subjects, activities and school fees. The nature of digital learning requires learners to have some self-discipline and technical abilities, which means that we might need to discuss these aptitudes during the transfer process. If you would like to transfer to another school, please contact your current school’s reception team.
