Curro Vanderbijlpark is an independent school in Vanderbijlpark that provides high-quality education for learners from Grade 8 to Grade 11, with higher grades phasing in annually. Our dedicated teachers and well-rounded approach prepare learners for the IEB examinations at the end of Grade 12. With small class sizes, dedicated teachers, and an enhanced curriculum, we empower learners with 21st-century skills and knowledge to grow into high-performing, self-confident individuals who are ready to become the leaders of the future.
Senior phase: Grade 8 and Grade 9
In these grades, we guide learners to adjust to a greater workload of higher intensity. With dedicated teachers and small class sizes, our enhanced curriculum places great emphasis on problem-solving and individual thinking. Teaching takes place in English, and 21st-century skills are introduced in subjects such as Information Technology. Our learners also receive guidance when choosing their elective subjects at the end of Grade 9 and use tablets in class throughout high school. Furthermore, learners benefit from having Afrikaans and Sesotho as additional language options.
FET phase: Grade 10 to Grade 12
This phase prepares learners for the IEB examinations written at the end of Grade 12. However, we emphasise a greater world-readiness rather than a purely examination-driven approach. Our enhanced curriculum teaches learners to think innovatively, express their ideas and take charge of their own lives to be valued members of the community. Learners further benefit from having Afrikaans and Sesotho as additional language options, and 21st-century skills are taught in subjects such as Information Technology and Engineering Graphics and Design (EGD).
We use tablets in class
As a Curro School, high school learners may choose to use tablets in class rather than textbooks. By exposing learners in our small class sizes to the daily use of technology, they are better prepared for the challenges of tertiary studies as well as the ever-changing workplace of the future.

A wider subject choice
High-school learners can now extend their subject choices beyond what is offered at our school. Learners can choose from a wide range of subjects, and classes will take place during the school day in the form of live lessons with teachers. These subjects can be seen as an extension of our enhanced curriculum from which our learners already benefit. Curro Vanderbijlpark activities
We believe that participation in sports and cultural activities plays an important role in developing a well-rounded learner and promoting friendship, team-awareness and self-confidence. Therefore, our wide range of activities are designed to help learners discover their inherent talents, or to broaden their exposure beyond their current reference framework. Our extramural activities are offered by private tutors/coaches and offered at an additional cost. Some of these activities are aimed at boosting learners’ cognitive abilities, while others provide pure enjoyment.

We offer two Curro Create programmes aimed at helping learners develop their creative talents to their full potential. Curro Arts Superhero (CAS) is an internal creative mentorship platform with a grading element, where learners are encouraged to discover, develop and display their inherent creative talents. Learners can also participate in the annual Curro Create National Youth Theatre Festival, wherein schools enter a one-act play in any genre and official language. The winning plays are chosen through a series of adjudications by world-class theatre-makers, who closely mentor learners throughout the process.
At Curro Vanderbijlpark we believe that outreach programmes are important not only to benefit the community, but also to develop appreciation and empathy in our learners. Therefore, we host various ad hoc outreach programmes during the year and learners are actively involved in all areas of the project.
