Curro Thatchfield Primary School
Curro Thatchfield is an independent Curro School situated in Thatchfield Hills, Centurion, that provides high-quality education to learners from Grade R to Grade 7, with a focus on developing 21st-century skills. Our small class sizes and enhanced curriculum (which includes the use of tablets in class) empower learners with skills and knowledge to grow into self-confident individuals.
Foundation phase: Grade R to Grade 3
With dedicated teachers and small class sizes, our foundation phase starts by providing the emotional and intellectual foundation required to handle the formal learning that starts in Grade 1. Through our enhanced curriculum we then gradually develop learners’ 21st-century skills and knowledge in basic areas such as language (comprehension, speaking, and listening), mathematics (counting and understanding numbers), and creative problem-solving in an environment where they enjoy coming to school. Learners even benefit from being introduced to Robotics through Duplo Lego. Teaching at Curro Thatchfield takes place in English, but Afrikaans, isiZulu and Setswana are offered additional language options. We also have a Group 5 (5 years old) class at our primary school, but since they follow the internally developed nursery school programme, the offering is included on Curro Castle Thatchfield’s website.
We offer homework and support classes
At our Curro School we want our learners to achieve to the best of their abilities. Therefore, we offer homework and support classes as part of our school fees to assist our foundation-phase learners.
Intermediate phase: Grade 4 to Grade 7
In these grades, learners are taught to work with the learned material in an abstract manner. The nature of the content gradually builds from being tangible and real, to more intellectual and abstract. Our small class sizes and enhanced curriculum provide learners with an inherent dedication to hard work and excellence as well as 21st-century skills through specialised subjects such as Natural Sciences and Technology. Teaching takes place in English, but Afrikaans, isiZulu and Setswana are offered additional language options.
We use tablets in class
As a Curro School, learners from this phase onwards may choose to use tablets in class (2-in-1 devices) rather than textbooks, if they want. By exposing learners to the daily use of technology, they are better prepared for the challenges of tertiary studies as well as the ever-changing workplace of the future.

Curro Thatchfield scholarships
At Curro Thatchfield, we understand the value of achieving in areas beyond academics, as our approach to education is to ensure that learners are developed as well-rounded individuals. Therefore, we offer a number of scholarships to top learners whose families struggle financially. To receive an academic scholarship, candidates must have achieved an aggregate of at least 75% in their previous year of schooling. These scholarships range in value up to 100% of the school fees.
