We are open during holidays

As a preschool in Sundowner, Randburg, we understand that working parents don’t get school holidays, which might pose a challenge when children are at home. That is why our preschool remains open during school holidays with a full holiday-care programme at no additional cost. Early childhood development activities continue, although we may arrange some extra fun activities during this time. We are closed only for a specified period during December and January.

Lunch included

Our school fees include lunch and an afternoon snack, which are freshly prepared in our on-site kitchen and are delivered to class in time for snack time or meal time. We also carefully accommodate allergies and other dietary requirements, although we might request a medical letter for severe dietary requirements. This is just to ensure that our kitchen staff can correctly interpret and prepare food for your child.

Early drop-off times

We accommodate working parents with a challenging commute by opening early in the morning. Children are welcomed by their teachers or teacher’s assistants and enjoy some free play before the preschool programme starts later on.

Staff have first-aid training

Children wholeheartedly run, play, climb, and jump, which may sometimes lead to minor bumps and bruises. This is why our staff are trained in first aid. Please note that national regulations prohibit teachers from dispensing any medicine, even over-the-counter or herbal tonics, without a valid prescription signed by a medical doctor. Therefore, when a child needs medicine during the day, our first-aid officers dispense medicine in class only if a valid prescription is provided.

Teachers have assistants

Our classes are divided by age and each teacher has one or more assistants, depending on the group and the number of children in the class (up to group 5). This ensures that each child gets the care and attention they need, and that they can optimally benefit from our preschool programme.

Learner support centre

We have a group of on-site therapists who operate their private practice from our learner support centre. This team includes occupational and speech therapists and two educational psychologists. The team conducts academic screenings, assessments to determine concession needs, long-term play therapy, counselling, dyslexia assessments, and so much more. They work closely with teachers to recognise when a learner might benefit from their services. Parents are contacted via email with the relevant contact details, and you may then choose to further the discussion.

Our speech therapist deals with concerns relating to pronunciation, auditory processing, letter and sound recognition, and several other foundational skills of reading and speaking, while the occupational therapy team supports learners who struggle with physical, cognitive, or perceptual barriers that impact learners’ functioning in the classroom.

Curro Aurora has a preschool in Sundowner, Randburg. We offer a preschool programme that is designed by Curro, which grants an excellent early childhood development from 2,5 years to Grade R. We carefully control the number of children per class to ensure that they are all cared for and entertained. We have half-day and full-day options, we are open during school holidays, and we have two, three and four-day options.
