Curro Aurora has an independent preschool in Sundowner, Randburg, that provides high-quality early childhood development for children from 2.5 years to Grade R. As a Curro School, we aim to provide affordable school fees and small class sizes that engage each child in our internally developed play-based curriculum.
What do we offer?
At Curro Aurora, we understand that parents need peace of mind on where their children are cared for during the day. That’s why we provide a safe, nurturing environment where children are nurtured and engaged in play-based developmental activities. Our affordable school fees supports how we designed our classrooms to encourage curiosity, imagination, and free play.
Furthermore, our playgrounds are equipped with jungle gyms, playhouses, and other play structures that inspire physical development through movement and play. Our small class sizes are divided by age group, which allows our teachers to spend quality time with each child. By getting to know each child individually, we can help them grow into a confident, self-reliant individual with great joy in their hearts.
We focus on early childhood development through the ELDAs
At our preschool, the internally developed programme is designed with the Early Learning and Development Areas (ELDAs) in mind. This approach aims to stimulate physical, social, emotional and cognitive well-being through developmental activities and engaging play areas. ELDAs focus on aspects such as gross motor development, fine-motor development, social awareness, communication, spatial awareness and arts.
Our preschool includes Grade R
Grade R is the bridge between the concrete, tangible world of play and touch, and the world of symbols and numbers in Grade 1. That’s why we start providing preschool children with the emotional and intellectual foundation required to handle the formal learning that starts in Grade 1. As a Curro School, our programme still remains a play-based approach, which includes specialised educational programmes such as the Bazoo literacy programme an introduction to Robotics through play with Duplo Lego.
In Grade R, we still maintain small class sizes so that children can grow comfortable with new types of learning material in a known and comfortable environment.

Activities at Curro Aurora
As a Curro School, we believe that participation in extramural activities plays an important role in early childhood development. Our daily programme is packed with a variety of physical and cognitive activities where children play while they learn, which are included in our affordable school fees. Extramural activities are offered as additional opportunities to strengthen focused areas or hone certain skills. Our extramural activities are offered by external tutors or coaches at an additional cost and take place on the school’s premises.
