Curro Academy Riverside has a primary school in Riverside View, Fourways, that provides the high-quality Curro education for learners from Grade R to Grade 7. Our small class sizes and enhanced curriculum empower learners with 21st-century skills and knowledge to grow into high-performing, self-confident individuals and to reach their personal, educational and eventual-workplace goals.
Foundation phase: Grade R to Grade 3
Our foundation phase starts by providing the emotional and intellectual foundation required to handle the formal learning that starts in Grade 1. Through our enhanced curriculum we then gradually develop learners’ 21st-century skills and knowledge in basic areas such as language (comprehension, speaking, and listening), mathematics (counting and understanding numbers), and creative problem-solving in an environment where they enjoy coming to school. Learners at our Curro Academy school even benefit from being introduced to Robotics through Duplo Lego and having Afrikaans as an additional language option.
Intermediate phase: Grade 4 to Grade 7
In these grades, learners are taught to work with the learned material in an abstract manner. The nature of the content gradually builds from being tangible and real, to more intellectual and abstract. As a Curro Academy school, our enhanced curriculum provides learners with an inherent dedication to hard work and excellence as well as 21st-century skills to prepare them for the workplace of the future.
How we make learning fun in the classroom
Children learn best in a fun, supportive environment where they form an active part of the learning process and where learning is fun and interesting. This environment is built by several factors, including the classroom’s appearance, the teacher’s enthusiasm, and the teaching method (how the work is presented). Our dedicated teachers explain or present the work with enthusiasm and passion. However, the most engaging principle is project-based learning, which guides learners to learn the material through their own research and discovery.

Our activities
Sports activities
As a Curro Academy school, we believe that sport plays an important role in promoting friendship, health, team-awareness and self-confidence. While healthy competition is encouraged, the enjoyment of the game is not compromised. Learners are encouraged to participate in sports activities, even if it is merely for physical well-being. We are one of the schools that offer Curro Tennis, which is a specialised tennis offering aimed at providing superior training to players. Learners benefit from well-experienced coaches, regular training and workshops, and even tournaments against international teams.
Cultural activities
Culture is one of the foundational pillars of developing a well-balanced learner and plays a great role in broadening learners’ reference frameworks. Our learners have the opportunity to participate in several cultural activities, regardless of their interests and abilities in sport or academics. Activities such as chess, debating and public speaking further help to stimulate thinking patterns such as logical analysis and problem-solving.
