Academics

Creston College is an independent school in Oslo Beach, Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natalthat provides high-quality early childhood development for children from 3 years to Grade RAs a Curro Select school, our competitive school fees and small class sizes allow our dedicated teachers to engage each child in our internally developed play-based curriculum and build strong, caring relationships with each child.

What do we offer?

At Creston Collegeour nursery school provides a safe, nurturing environment where children are cared for and engaged in play-based developmental activities. Through competitive school fees, our classrooms are designed to encourage educational curiosity, while our playgrounds are equipped with play structures that inspire physical development through movement and play. With small class sizes, dedicated teachers and teachers' assistants, we provide a safe home away from home.

How do we support your child’s development?

At our nursery school, our internally developed programme is designed with the Early Learning and Development Areas (ELDAs) in mind and aims to stimulate physical, social, emotional and cognitive well-being through developmental activities and engaging play areas. ELDAs focus on aspects such as gross-motor development, fine-motor development, social awareness, communication, spatial awareness and arts.

We focus on early childhood development through the ELDAs

As a Curro Select school, we incorporate the latest research in physical and cognitive development. Our small class sizescarefully designed playgrounds, safety measures and daily programmes create a safe and fun-filled home away from home.

Grade R

We accommodate Grade R learners in our nursery school, to give them more time to mature emotionally before attending school with the older childrenGrade R is the bridge from the tangible world to the world of symbols and numbers in Grade 1. Therefore, in our small class sizeswe focus on an integrated play-based school-readiness programme that aims to develop the children’s phonological, literacy, mathematical and creative problem-solving skills in a fun way that will ensure they are well prepared for primary school.

Creston College activities

As a Curro Select school, we believe that participation in extramural activities plays an important role in early childhood developmentOur daily programme is packed with a variety of physical and cognitive activities where children play while they learn – all included in our competitive school fees. Extramural activities, however, are offered as additional opportunities to strengthen focus areas or hone certain skills. Our extramural activities are offered by external tutors or coaches at an additional cost and take place on the school’s premises.
