Courtney House International has an AS/A level campus in Nieuw Muckleneuk, Pretoria. We provide the excellent Cambridge curriculum to learners from Year 11 to Year 13 (16 to 19 years old) and limit our class sizes to make sure learners get personal attention. Teaching takes place in English, we support our foreign learners by having Afrikaans, French, and Spanish language subjects, and we have a team of TEFL-trained teachers to help non-English speaking learners adjust to our school.

Furthermore, we form part of the Curro school group, and have aftercare and transport options, as well as specialised programmes that support reading, phonics, and other learning areas. We also maintain strict access control, pick-up permissions, confidentiality, and general safety protocols, so that you can rest assured about the safety of your child.

Discover the subjects and activities your child can enjoy with us by viewing our fact sheet.

We specialise in accommodating international dignitaries

Our school is conveniently located near several embassies, commissions and agencies who employ or house international dignitaries, which is why the vast majority of our learners are from other countries. As part of this accommodation, teachers who speak French and Spanish pay special attention to new learners, and we have a buddy system where learners of similar languages help each other adjust to our school. Due to the high-profile status of many of our parents, we also go to great lengths to ensure our learners’ confidentiality.

Contact us to arrange a tour of our stunning campus for yourself or your organisation’s relocation officer.

As part of the Curro school group, learners in the group enjoy preference when applying to us. Nearby high schools whose children could progress to us include Woodhill College, Curro Hazeldean and Curro Thatchfield. We also help learners through the process of transferring from these schools to ours.

The Cambridge curriculum

We follow the Cambridge Assessment International Education which takes learners on an exciting educational journey from a young age. This international curriculum provides an advanced level of teaching with rigorous assessments and a unique approach to providing knowledge and education of realities, lifestyles, socio-economic situations (and more) of countries across the world. This curriculum grants learners access to all UK universities and over 600 universities in the USA (including IV League).

Our learners write a national or international exam each year, culminating in the A Level exam in Year 13.

Checkpoint exams

The Cambridge pathway culminates in the final international exams in Year 11 and Year 12. The AS/A Level exam is written in Year 12, with the final A Level exam in Year 13. Past papers with mark schemes and examiner reports are available online. To find them, learners can visit the Cambridge IGCSE subjects page and select their chosen subjects.

How big are our classes

We control the number of learners per class to be no more than 22, so that our teachers have the time and space to give personal attention to each learner, in exactly the places that they need. This is just one of the ways that we create an environment where your child will enjoy what they learn and love coming to school.
