Curro Hewelkruin is a place where one can build a family, with peers as your support system and teachers as your guidance you ultimately gain a home away from home. High school is, by definition, ‘a secondary school, where teenagers are educated before starting university or getting jobs’, however in reality it is so much more than that …
High school is a place that teaches us valuable life lessons, enables us to reach our full potential and allows us to gain friendships that will last a lifetime. High school is by no means an easy or smooth ride however do not let those bad marks and bad days get the best of you, do not let it define you. Rather use these things as a lesson to better yourself and develop who you are as an individual. The key to having an enjoyable high school experience does not only entail good marks but also maintaining a balance throughout your career. Try things you have never tried before. Pick up that rugby ball and you could be the next Siya Kolisi, hit that hockey ball and you could be the next Erin Hunter, dive into the water and you could be the next Chad le Clos, but if you never do these things, you will never know. This is a time in your life where you must take advantage of all the opportunities that come your way! Curro Heuwelkruin will always hold a special place in my heart, as it truly was my home away from home. This school was a safe place for me to develop my character and take advantage of the many opportunities that were handed to me.
Never let anything stop you from achieving your goals and always keep your eye on the prize. Push through those bad days and embrace the good ones, enjoy the ride and never take anything for granted.

Through challenges and triumphs, I found strength in these words from Philippians 4:13: 'I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.' This scripture reminded me that with faith and determination, no obstacle is insurmountable. As head girl, I carried this verse in my heart, drawing inspiration from its timeless wisdom to lead, inspire, and overcome. Just as Christ's unwavering strength guided me, I aimed to be a guiding light for my fellow learners – showing that together, we could achieve greatness.
