Our school transport service is available to learners travelling to and from our school, at an additional cost as stipulated on our school fees letter. Our school transport service currently covers areas such as Olympus, Faerie Glen, Garsfontein, Moreleta Park and Silverlakes.
Our wide variety of sports and cultural activities are hosted on international-standard courts and fields, which are pristinely well kept ensuring that learners can gain maximum benefit and enjoyment from their chosen activity. Our activity facilities include an amphitheatre, auditorium, theatre, multi-purpose courts, three heated swimming pools and several indoor and outdoor sports fields/courts for various sports, including an AstroTurf hockey field. Activities presented in these facilities are generally included in our school fees.
At Woodhill College, we created a safe, modern environment where children can grow accustomed to learning and working with modern equipment and facilities. Along with our small class sizes, this ensures that they develop 21st-century skills. Therefore, classrooms and laboratories for specialised subjects are equipped with the latest technology and 21st-century learning tools. We even use tablets in class for some subjects. Our specialised teaching facilities include computer and technology centres, science laboratories, a dance studio, STEAMD classroom, and more.
Learner support department
We know that learners often need additional support. From preschool to high school, our learner support team offers various forms of therapy during school hours in small class sizes. The team includes a remedial coordinator, educational psychologist, occupational therapists, and a speech therapist. These services are not included in the school fees, and will be communicated when relevant.
Parent Advisory Committee (PAC)
As a Curro Select school, we encourage parents to play a role in managing our school through a duly elected parent advisory committee (PAC). As the name indicates, the PAC’s role is strictly an advisory one – they do not make and enforce decisions regarding school matters. The committee comprises of parents of current learners and serves for a term of three years. Through the PAC, parents can share their input in a structured manner to the benefit of the learners and school; as a school community they can, therefore, be involved in the operational success of the school.
We use tablets in class
As a Curro Select school, learners use tablets in class for independent research and the downloading of additional notes and resources. This further helps them gain the most benefit from our enhanced curriculum and approach to innovative learning.
Woodhill College history
The development of our school already started in 1998 with the acquisition of the 14-ha property from the developers of Woodhill Residential Golf Estate. In March 1999 we officially announced the opening of Woodhill College. Building work started in 2000 and included the administration centre, the foundation phase section, amphitheatre and learner lounge (which for a long period was the hall) and general block A (library, computer centre, music room and laboratory). When the doors opened at the end of January 2001, there were 236 learners enrolled from Group 4 to Grade 9, with a staff complement of 33.
Today the constructed buildings are in excess of 12 500 m², with the capacity to accommodate 1 730 learners. The year 2021 will mark Woodhill College’s 20th anniversary. We have been and will always remain innovative and progressive in our approach to offer quality education.
