Aftercare
Our aftercare service is available for learners from Grade R to Grade 7 at an additional cost, as stipulated on our school fees letter (see Downloads). Learners are accommodated in safe classrooms and playgrounds, and the aftercare fees include a freshly prepared meal for lunch as well as homework support.
Modern classrooms
At Curro Krugersdorp we created a safe, modern environment where children can grow accustomed to learning and working with modern equipment and facilities. Our classrooms are designed to create a feeling of learning through educational decorations, but without causing undue distraction. Specialised classrooms include a Natural Sciences lab, two computer labs and two Robotics labs. Classrooms for specialised subjects such as Technology and Robotics are equipped with the latest technology and tools that provide learners with 21st-century skills and allow them to interact with the learned material through experiments or projects.
We use tablets in class
As a Curro School we aim to embrace 21st-century skills by giving learners the option to use tablets in class (or other devices that operate on Windows 10) alongside their textbooks. Using tablets in class allows teachers to provide learners with a wealth of information at the touch of a button and prepares them for the workplace of the future.
Private areas
At our school the foundation phase block is intimate and well secured, and separate from the intermediate phase block. Our Grade Rs have their own area with well-resourced and spacious classrooms. They enjoy their own age-appropriate and safe playground and aftercare facilities. The keypad access for parents allows for direct access to their classes. During the school day, learners are taken to the primary school fields for sports coaching. The Grades 1 to 3 learners also have their own area, with their own reception and play area.
Activity facilities
Our school’s facilities are designed to accommodate a variety of activities on the premises as part of our school fees to promote the development of 21st-century skills.
Our facilities include:
Parent Advisory Committee
As a Curro School we encourage parents to play a role in managing our school through a duly-elected parent advisory committee (PAC). As the name indicates, the PAC’s role is strictly an advisory one – they do not make and enforce decisions regarding school matters. The committee comprises of parents of current children.
At Curro Krugersdorp, our PAC acts as liaison between the school and parents, raise funds through specific events throughout the year and host social and fellowship events. Through the PAC, parents can share their input in a structured manner to the benefit of the learners and school; as a community they can, therefore, be involved in the operational success of the school.
