Welcome home

At Curro Klerksdorp, we know that learners perform best when they feel safe, supported, and comfortable in their living spaces. This is why we went to great lengths to create a warm, caring home where your child can enjoy their school years while being support academically, physically and emotionally.

Boarders may decorate their rooms to make them feel at home and we have a comfortable learning area where learners where they can relax and spend time with their boarding friends. Our boarding school staff fulfil the roles of parent and councillor of sorts, by building a close relationship with each learner.

 

 

What we offer

Our boarding school services include laundry and housekeeping, Wi-Fi, fun activities every weekend, and the services of counsellors readily available. Furthermore, our meals are planned by a dietician and are served in a beautiful dining room. We also host entertainment and activities, such as braais, singing competitions, termly outings, and an end-of-year function. We encourage our boarders to participate in all spheres of school life and help them to make friends when they first arrive.

 

The housing arrangements

Each boarder has their own fully-equipped individual private room, with no more than 40 learners in the entire boarding house. Boys and girls are housed separately in Saint Theresa (girls) and Saint Vincent (boys), with full-time boarding staff residing on each property.

We have a daily schedule that balances relaxation and studies, while teachers and boarding staff help to track your child’s academic progress. You as parent are also welcome to visit at any time.

 

 

Frequently asked questions

  • What happens in a medical emergency?
    We will always try to contact you immediately, though extreme emergency situations may require us to act without delay. The nearest general practitioner is within walking distance of Curro Klerksdorp and the closest hospital is no more than five minutes away.
  • How do leave arrangements and visits work?
    You can visit any time. If anybody else is collecting a child at any time, you need to provide written consent upfront.
  • Is theft an issue and how is it dealt with?
    Theft has not been a major problem; however, each case would be dealt with accordingly.
  • Who monitors my child’s progress?
    Our boarding parents are in close contact with school teachers. They sign all tests and assessments and are regularly updated regarding academic progress. We could arrange for extra academic assistance when required at no extra cost.
  • Will my child make friends easily?
    Yes, absolutely. One of the advantages of having a limited number of boarders per house, is that they build close friendships.
  • Do boys and girls have separate facilities?
    Yes; boys are accommodated in Saint Vincent while girls are housed in Sant Theresa house.
  • What happens if my child is homesick?
    Our boarding school staff act as parent and counselor, and provide extra comfort and care when your child misses their family.
  • How can I communicate with my child?
    Boarders may keep their cellphone with them at all times to connect with their loved ones.
