You get the excellent Curro education

We are committed to providing learners with an excellent education. That is why our approach to teaching the national CAPS curriculum is based on project-based learning and self-discovery. This approach allows our primary school learners to explore the learning material beyond just the textbook through research, experiments and assignments. Regular assessments and tests still take place, but it’s important to us that learners can use their intellectual abilities to make the material real to them in some way.

Part of our approach is exposing our learners to specialised subjects, which include Robotics and Economic and Management Sciences. This gives learners a head start in their eventual workplace dreams, because they learn to take initiative and making connections between pieces of knowledge.

As part of the Curro school group, our learners enjoy preference when applying to any school in the group. Nearby schools include Curro Midrand Sagewood, Curro Midrand Halfway Gardens, Building Blocks Pre-primary School, Curro New Road, and Curro Waterfall.

What happens from 5 years to Grade 7

Our foundation phase starts by your child get ready for the formal learning that starts in Grade R. In this phase, they learn the basic foundations on which all further learning is based:

  • Language (read, spell, understand, speak, listen)
  • Mathematics (count, understand numbers, addition, subtraction and multiplication)
  • Life skills (physical education, real-life experiences, problem-solving, creativity)

In the intermediate phase, the work becomes less tangible or real, and more abstract. To do this, learners start with project-based learning, which means they do research, assignments, and experiments to explore the material outside just the textbook.

Teaching takes place in English, and learners can choose Afrikaans as an additional language. They also have Robotics as a subject in the intermediate phase.

How big are the classes

We control the number of learners per class to be no more than 35, so that our teachers have the time and space to give personal attention to each learner, in exactly the places that they need. This is just one of the ways that we create an environment where your child will enjoy what they learn and love coming to school.

Activities your child can enjoy

One part of the excellent Curro education, is that academics are balanced with sports and cultural activities. Participation in activities promote team-awareness, collaboration, and self-confidence. Activities such as art and choir help learners develop the skills to gather their thoughts and express themselves in creative ways. Our focused variety of activities, such as chess and drama, are tailored to the interests of learners in our area. Your child is sure to find something that will pique their interest.
