Strong results in breaststroke events
The Gauteng Schools Championships bring together swimmers who qualify through school and league competitions, creating a competitive field across strokes and distances.
Viknesh delivered two solid performances in the breaststroke discipline, finishing:
- 7th place – 50 m breaststroke
- 8th place – 100 m breaststroke
‘Congratulations to Viknesh Chetty who competed at the Gauteng Schools Championships in Pretoria,’ the school said.
Competing at provincial level
The championships were held at Hillcrest Swimming Pool in Pretoria, a venue regularly used for major school and provincial swimming events.
Participation at this level places swimmers among the strongest performers in their age groups across the province and reflects progression through the school swimming competition pathway.
Waterstone College recognised Viknesh’s effort and representation at the event.
‘Viknesh represented Waterstone College with pride, determination and true sportsmanship,’ the school said.
Part of an ongoing competitive journey
School swimming in Gauteng typically progresses from internal galas to league competitions and then to provincial championships such as the Gauteng Schools Championships.
Viknesh has also competed in other regional swimming events, showing continued involvement in competitive swimming beyond school meets.
‘This is an outstanding achievement at such a high-level event,’ the school added.
With two top-eight finishes secured at the provincial championships, Viknesh continues to build experience against the province’s leading school swimmers.
