Waterstone College golfer shines in 2024 season
27 November 2024Waterstone College learner, 17-year-old Manav Mohanlal, has made waves in the South African junior golf scene, solidifying his place as a standout talent both within the Curro network and beyond. He’s competed in various prestigious tournaments throughout 2024 and consistently delivered remarkable performances. It’s brought pride to Waterstone College and positioned Manav as one of South Africa’s rising golf stars.

Manav’s year has been marked by significant victories. He secured top honours at the Central Gauteng Golf Union (CGGU) U19 River Club Final and emerged as the winner of the CGGU U19 Winter Festive Tour, both of which demonstrated his skill and composure on challenging courses. At the GolfRSA SA U19 Boys North and South Championship, Manav tied for 11th place against the nation’s best junior golfers, while his participation in the GolfRSA SA Boys U19 Inland Nomads saw him finish in 19th position. His success continued with a first-place finish at the CGGU BSI U19 Open.
In addition to his individual accolades, Manav captained the Junior League Gauteng team to victory, which illustrated his leadership and strategic approach to the game. This role highlighted his ability to inspire and guide his teammates to success in a highly competitive environment.
Manav’s journey also included noteworthy performances in other high-profile events. At the Nedbank Junior Challenge in April 2024, he recorded solid rounds of 86, 74, and 73, finishing with a total score of 233. He also actively participates in tournaments like the Cape Town Junior Open.
