Double podium finish at provincial championships

The Mpumalanga Athletics Championships bring together athletes who progress through school and district competitions across the province.

Reshego delivered strong performances in two events, finishing on the podium in both disciplines:

  • 3rd place – Long jump
  • 3rd place – 75 m hurdles (girls U13)

‘Reshego showcased her talent at the Mpumalanga Athletics Championships (MUSSAs), held on 27 February 2026 at the Lilian Ngoyi Stadium in Secunda,’ the school said.

Qualification for national competition

Her results secured selection to represent Mpumalanga at the South African Primary Schools Athletics Championships, scheduled to take place in Cape Town from 19 to 21 March 2026.

Reshego will compete in the 75 m hurdles, an event that requires sprint speed combined with precise rhythm and technique over a series of hurdles.

The national championships bring together top young athletes from across South Africa who qualify through provincial competitions.

In addition to her achievements on the track, Reshego also holds the Intermediate Phase Sports portfolio at Curro Secunda, contributing to sport leadership within the school.

‘Her dedication and determination have earned her the honour of representing both Curro Secunda and Mpumalanga at the South African Athletics Championships for Primary Schools,’ the school said.
