Amy Barnes' Sevens selection
17 March 2025Amy Barnes, a Grade 9 learner at Curro Durbanville, has made significant strides in Sevens rugby. Her talent was recognised when she was selected for the Western Cape Under-15 girls team recently. This selection provided her with the opportunity to compete at a national level, representing the Western Cape in the National Under-15 Tournament held during the December holidays.
Dominant performance at the national tournament
The Western Cape team secured victories in all their matches, culminating in a decisive 19-7 win against the Eastern Cape in the final. Other notable results included:
- Western Cape 45 – 0 Limpopo
- Western Cape 45 – 0 Northern Cape
- Western Cape 7 – 0 Gauteng
- Western Cape 47 – 0 Free State
- Semi-final: Western Cape 38 – 7 Mpumalanga
