A musical milestone for Grantleigh’s Kaylin Reddy

Grade 11 learner Kaylin Reddy from Grantleigh School recently achieved an extraordinary milestone, performing alongside the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra (KZNPO) at the Young Performers Concert. Having started his schooling journey as a preschooler at Grantleigh, Kaylin’s selection marks a proud moment for both him and his school community.

A stage for South Africa’s rising talent

The Young Performers Concert, organised by the South African Society of Music Teachers (SASMT), is one of the country’s most prestigious platforms for emerging musicians. The 2025 concert took place at the Playhouse Drama Theatre in Durban, giving talented instrumentalists and vocalists the opportunity to perform with one of South Africa’s leading professional orchestras.

Kaylin joined other young soloists for a live orchestral experience that highlighted the next generation of musical talent in KwaZulu-Natal. They performed under the direction of maestro Chad Hendricks. The event is widely recognised within South Africa’s music-education community and promoted as a family-friendly celebration of youth artistry.

Celebrating a remarkable achievement

‘We congratulate Kaylin on this remarkable accomplishment! It is a true reflection of his  dedication, talent, and passion for music,’ said the school.

Curro, and Grantleigh in particular, applaud Kaylin for representing the school with distinction and for reaching this significant milestone in his musical journey. His performance with the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra stands as a memorable step in what promises to be a bright future in music.
