Curro Durbanville’s high-energy performance captivates millions

Curro Durbanville learners have set social media alight with their Spirit Cup flashes, racking up over 46 million views across multiple platforms. These choreographed performances, designed to energise school spirit, have drawn attention from local and international audiences alike.

A viral sensation

The excitement began when a parent and the school shared a video of the flashes online. Engagement skyrocketed, and Hollywood actress Jennifer Garner later shared one of the clips, giving it an even greater boost. Major media outlets, including ESPN, UNILAD, ABC News, The Citizen, Good Morning America, IOL, and KFM, featured the performance. Brazil’s Report TV also broadcasted the event, further extending its global reach.

The vision behind the flashes

The school’s Deon van Zyl, who organised and trained the learners, played a key role in ensuring the performances were a success. Under his guidance, the ‘Wolf Pack’ delivered synchronised routines that stunned audiences at Dal Josafat Stadium on 21 February and captivated millions online.

School spirit on a global scale

The impact of the viral flashes has positioned Curro Durbanville as a leader in creative school spirit initiatives. Learners, parents, and alumni continue to share the videos, celebrating their success and reinforcing the school’s strong sense of unity.
