Curro Durbanville learner Judi Hattingh joins the cast of Suidooster

Curro Durbanville Primary is celebrating a major milestone as Grade 7 learner Judi Hattingh has been preparing to appear on Suidooster, one of South Africa’s most recognisable daily soap-operas. Learners across Curro continue to break new ground in the arts, and Judi’s screen role marks an important moment for young performers who aspire to professional acting.

Stepping into the role of Jenna Ferreira

In an announcement the school wrote: ‘We are thrilled and proud to announce that our very own Judi Hattingh, in Grade 7, will be captivating audiences as Jenna Ferreira in the television series “Suidooster”!’

Suidooster airs on kykNET (DStv channel 144) at 18:00 and kykNET & kie (DStv channel 145) at 18:30, with episodes also available on the DStv app and Showmax. According to the school, Judi’s episodes started airing from 27 November 2025 and continue to 1 January 2026.

The character she portrays, Jenna Ferreira, is described as a 12-year-old with a can-do attitude and a bold, outgoing personality. Judi’s ability to step confidently into this role reflects the skill she has developed over several years of performance work.

A record of strong achievements

Judi’s recent acting successes highlight her growth as a performer. At the 2025 #Acting4Film Red Carpet Screening and Awards Ceremony she earned 1st place in the YoungStars (Grades 4–7) category, representing Curro Durbanville. She was also named Curro Create Actor of the Year 2025, the highest individual honour across all categories.

Her #Acting4Film work formed part of Curro Create’s Top 15 finalists, filmed professionally at Atlantic Studios on the Filmscape LED Volume screen and shared during a national showcase attended by industry professionals. These experiences provided valuable preparation for her upcoming television role.

Judi also stood out earlier in her acting journey. While in Grade 5, she was awarded ‘Best Actress in a Leading Role’ at the ATKV Tjokkertoneel National Finals, an early indication of the talent she continues to develop.

A moment of pride for her school

The school encouraged families and viewers to tune in: ‘Mark your calendars and don’t miss the chance to see Judi shine on screen! Congratulations Judi!’

With a growing list of achievements and her debut on a nationally broadcast series, Judi’s work shows what young actors can accomplish when skill, opportunity and support come together.
