Curro Uitzicht Matric 2023

You had a bear celebrity with a special bear identity, who helped you forget your worries and your strife. Matric is like a rollercoaster ride – often stressful, but with loads of chances to make lasting memories.

Your school's trusty teddy bear buddy was right there, sharing in the experience, and so were your executive head and class leaders … let’s hear from them!

Executive Head: Hennie Mentz

Congratulations, Grade 12 learners! As you conclude this chapter, remember that your hard work and dedication have brought you here. Embrace your final exams with confidence and know that your future is bright. Keep believing in yourself and pursuing your dreams. The world awaits your unique talents. Best wishes!

Head boy: Nicolas Jacobs

My school experience at Curro Uitzicht High School started with some mixed emotions. I was wondering if I would fit in and how the learners and teachers would treat me. It was not long before I realised that I am exactly where I was meant to be.

The teachers and learners were all very friendly and helpful. My teachers are friendly and supportive, and we all get along very well.  The head of high school is very friendly, and I have had the privilege to know her for quite some time. She is strong and leads us to be confident learners.

My high school journey was great, and I enjoyed each moment, while making a lot of friends. If I could give a message to other learners, it would be that you don’t have to change for anyone, be yourself and know that you are not alone. We all learn differently and need different environments to help us be the best we can be, and Curro Uitzicht was the place for me, and I am very grateful to everyone who helped me along the way. Thank you, Curro Uitzicht.

Head girl: Chloe Murphy

My parents decided that I should start my high school journey at Curro Uitzicht, where I could be better assisted academically in a small class environment. I’ve only had good encounters ever since I started. On my first day of high school, I was nervous as any new learner would be, but the other learners and teachers welcomed me with a friendly smile and open hearts, ready to make a difference in my schooling career.

Looking back throughout each year of being at Curro Uitzicht I’m very thankful for each teacher I had and how they positively impacted my educational experience. I appreciate everyone who helped me when I needed the assistance and for always being willing to go the extra mile. The relationships I have built with learners and teachers is incredible and is one to cherish.

One thing I can say I learnt was to accept everyone for their differences and to love and care for everyone and be there when someone needs help or just a friend to talk to. Throughout my high school year, I had to adapt to losing friends and having new teachers. Sometimes change isn’t easy, but it helps you grow as a person. Change isn’t easy and comes with obstacles and challenges however for me it brought about personal growth and development.

One challenge I’ve faced this year as being head girl and a matriculant was that there was a lot of differences among us as a matric group and we all had different opinions and ideas. However, my role as head girl was to ensure that we work in unity and influence the grades below us positively. This was not always an easy task. I tried to remain positive and create a good atmosphere.

It’s so sad that this year is coming to an end, but I can definitely say my journey was good and one to hold in my memories forever. I wish nothing but the best for Curro Uitzicht and I am hoping that I left behind a legacy that will impact the learners and individuals that I had the pleasure of meeting. Thank you for everything, Curro Uitzicht.
