Creston College Matric 2023

You had a bear celebrity with a special bear identity, who helped you forget your worries and your strife. Matric is like a rollercoaster ride – often stressful, but with loads of chances to make lasting memories.

Your school's trusty teddy bear buddy was right there, sharing in the experience, and so were your executive head and class leaders … let’s hear from them!

Executive Head: Mr Noel Coetzee

2023 has been a busy year, with our enrolments remaining stable despite the challenges faced by our South Coast community with the downturn in the economy, the ongoing load-shedding and two disruptive floods in our area, and regular water outages.

The highlight of 2023 was the official opening of our full-size AstroTurf, where we used the theme, ‘Riding the Crest of the Wave’. In our school song, we refer to the blue waves we can see, and we work to the sound of the sea. With the vision of our founders, we are privileged to enjoy magnificent views of the ocean from our school.

If one speaks about being on the crest of a wave, it indicates that you are feeling very happy and confident because things are going well for you.

Waves are also a constant movement of energy. Sometimes this energy can be calming and soothing, but other times it evokes enormous power and strength. Therefore, it also symbolises power, vigour and a mighty force. We seem to have been riding on the crest of a wave since we joined Curro as one of their Select Schools in 2019, and we have gone from strength to strength with vigour.

Since its establishment in 1996, Creston College has been striving to offer a diversified curriculum and learning environment within and outside classrooms to ensure learners have an all-round balanced education.

Our school’s policy is to nurture future generations into quality citizens who are socially responsible and equipped with a sense of our national identity, a love for Creston College, their community, and the South Coast in general. I am very proud of the Class of 2023.

Head boy: Prosper Mlondo

High school life has proven to be a canvas, a canvas where you paint the colours of your dreams, where every challenge is an opportunity, and every setback a lesson – a concatenation of upstrokes and downstrokes. Each hue with a story of its own. But what remains definitive is the beautiful portrait that comes out at the end. So, as this new chapter in our lives unfolds, I ask of all you Crestonians – past, present, and future – to stand firm and always say you dare to.

Paint your picture.

Head girl: Anela Vundla

As we venture forward, let’s carry the strength of unity and the comfort of belonging, for together we are an unstoppable force, bound by friendships and fuelled by dreams.
