Curro Thatchfield Matric 2022

You had a bear celebrity with a special bear identity, who helped you forget your worries and your strife. Matric is an important and often stressful year, but it’s also a time to make memories that will last a lifetime.

Your school’s teddy shared in the experience!

Let’s hear it from your school leaders

President: Tsholofelo Seoposengwe

‘Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.’ – Arnold Schwarzenegger

Academic excellence starts with the little wins: successfully making it out of bed in the morning despite a long night, pushing for a submission on a Friday evening, or simply surviving one hectic week in school. Academic excellence starts with a few setbacks: a disappointment or two because you missed an A on an assignment into which you’ve shed blood and tears, or a few breakdowns here and there due to feelings of unfulfilled potential. Academic excellence is not allowing those setbacks to derail your focus or to define you. Instead, it is a measurement of your individual progress, process, and growth.

I am academic excellence and so is the Curro family that raised me, because when I most required a shoulder to lean on or depended on an anchor to keep me grounded when I felt not-invincible – that was the family that showed up for me. At times when I hoped they would not and at times when I needed them the most, they showed up for me and have been showing up for the past 9 years of my life. I am academic excellence and so are you, future matrics of Curro; thus, the reason you cannot let the efforts of the people who love and support you be in vain. Don’t let your own efforts be in vain. So, promise yourselves one thing: that when you step into that world (the real world) you are going to do everything in your power to discover who you are, what exactly matters to you, and how it is that you’re going to matter to the world.

Vice-president: Tendani Nemudivhiso

I am so grateful to be a part of this dynamic institution that upholds values of love, freedom, sincerity and justice. I am extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to support, help and encourage my classmates in their aspirations for the future. While the role required hard work and a lot of commitment, it was incredibly rewarding and fulfilling to help make a difference, even in a small way.

Looking back at my term, I am incredibly proud of the work we have done here. Leadership is not an easy task; it is not for people with weak hearts. It is about having a vision and aim. It is about positive and impactful communication. Thank you, Curro Thatchfield for giving me this opportunity. I am grateful to my life and destiny for bringing me to this school.

Vice-president: Larona Serekwa

My journey at Curro Thatchfield has been one filled with memories, experiences and lessons that I will forever cherish, with one of those fulfilling memories being becoming SRC vice-president. This role allowed me to grow in unimaginable ways and presented its own set of challenges. This experience has helped me discover a lot about myself including abilities that I never knew I had. Serving as vice-president allowed me to use my strengths and abilities in a way that benefits others.

Schooling at Curro Thatchfield helped me to understand that teamwork makes the dream work. I believe that Howard Shultz has summed it up perfectly by saying, ‘Success is best when it’s shared’. I am thankful to the school for believing in me and the role they played in helping me to develop into the person I am today. I hope that when you look back and think of me, your memories of me are as good as mine are of you.
