Curro Hazeldean Matric 2022

You had a bear celebrity with a special bear identity, who helped you forget your worries and your strife. Matric is an important and often stressful year, but it’s also a time to make memories that will last a lifetime.

Your school’s teddy shared in the experience!

Let’s hear it from your head girl and boy

Head girl: Lauren Bezuidenhout

I spent 14 years of my life at Curro Hazeldean and it has become a second home to me. The family feeling where everyone knows one another and teachers and staff really care about us has given me precious memories that will remain with me for the rest of my life. Curro shaped me as a person and I am grateful for the opportunities I was given and the values this school has instilled in me. I will be eternally thankful to the amazing teachers who granted me a quality education and influenced me in such a positive way. The friendships I made are certainly the highlight of my school career; these bonds are unbreakable and forever.

Thank you to all my fellow Curro learners for making this past year memorable. Our journey was full of hard work, anxiety, fun and laughter and you all showed full commitment and enthusiasm in every task we did together. I want to encourage every learner to be a leader in your own right – one who inspires, leads by example and empowers those around you – and to become the kind of leader that people will follow, regardless of your title or position. We wish the Class of 2023 the very best and to excel in all aspects of life and to leave a legacy at Curro Hazeldean that will never be forgotten.

Head boy: Neo Dikgale

Someone once said that dynamite comes in small packages and in the last five years I began to understand why this was said. Yes, we might be the smallest when it comes to numbers, but we by far have the largest fighting spirit and passion when committing to represent our school in any activity. Walking into the school in Grade 8 and now at the end of the journey with the potential to walk out and lead the world, has to be the biggest accomplishment one can achieve within the space of five years.

There’s never a dull moment at Curro Hazeldean, here we create memories and stories. Now that we begin to set foot in the journey of the real world, we’ll always have it with us that anything can be achieved no matter the odds. If you believe you can do it and keep to the values of love, loyalty and respect, you may achieve way more than you set out for yourself. As Matshona Dhliwayo said: ‘A river is honoured for its fish, not its size.’
