Curro Bankenveld Matric 2022

You had a bear celebrity with a special bear identity, who helped you forget your worries and your strife. Matric is an important and often stressful year, but it’s also a time to make memories that will last a lifetime.

Your school’s teddy shared in the experience!

Let’s hear it from your head girl and boy

Head girl: Amukelani Maserumule

Time flies. Who would have thought that our matric year would go by so quickly? Take a deep breath, take it all in, give thanks to the Lord and give yourself a pat on the back. You should be proud of yourself for making it this far through all the ups and downs. I know many of us would just like to finish this year tomorrow and start our new adult lives, but I want to encourage you to live in the moment. This is our last year so let us cherish every moment, try and make new memories every single day and be present in the present.

Prelims and finals are coming up soon and I know many of us are tired and anxious, but we can do this! I want to encourage you with the words of Apostle Paul in Hebrews 12 when he says ‘… let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us …’ Do not allow anxiety to overcome you, because remember you can do all through Christ who gives you strength and believe that He who has begun a good work in you will see it to completion. Work hard believing that you will reap the fruits of your labour and leave the rest to God.

Head boy: Tiyani Mashengete

We are almost at the end of our high school journey. When we were in Grade 8 many of us thought that it would take forever to become matrics and yet here we are. A lot has happened in the past five years. We made new friends, shared some memorable moments, played sport, and participated in culture and other activities. Some felt the pain of close friends going to another school in another city. We've developed through our academics, through character and maturity. We went through the pandemic in a time where we could not see our friends but eventually got reunited again. Some were elected as part of the prefect body of the school.

Now we face prelims and the November exam and then it's all done. We are looking into a new life; a new chapter in our lives as we go on to university, college and for some, their very first jobs. We are about to enter the real world and experience new environments, make new friends and create new memories. We will be following our passions and taking the route of becoming the next generation of adults in our country. So as the head boy of Curro Bankenveld I'd like to encourage each and every matric to keep working hard, keep a stronghold on what you want to become, don't be that person who always says ‘I could have, I should have’ – the time is now. Use it wisely. I wish everyone the best of luck for prelims and the November exams and may God bless you all.
