Curro Secunda teacher earns Ph.D. in Environmental Studies

Iyioluwa Raji has taught Mathematics and Mathematical Literacy at Curro Secunda for the past two years. He was born in Nigeria where completed his high school career and his first degree in Geology before moving to South Africa.

He furthered his studies while he worked as a teacher in Limpopo and Mahikeng while doing his Master's degree in Environmental Science and Management in 2018. He subsequently moved to Secunda and began teaching at Curro Secunda in January 2022.

Mr Raji will officially receive his Doctoral degree in Environmental Studies in October. His research, focusing on the dynamics of fluvial transportation of uranium in the Rietspruit River system, is a testament to his resilience and determination.                                                                                                                    

He dreams big for the future and sees himself as the director of his own environmental company in 10 years. "I believe my determination and discipline triggered me to study further, and with more education, more opportunities will come," he says.
