Curro Academy Parkdene Primary School

Academics

Curro Academy Parkdene is an independent school in Parkdene, Boksburg, that provides high-quality education for learners from Grade R to Grade 7. Our dedicated teachers, well-rounded approach, small class sizes and enhanced curriculum empower learners with 21st-century skills and knowledge to grow into high-performing, self-confident individuals and to reach their personal, educational and eventual-workplace goals. As a Curro Academy school, we aim to provide the most affordable school fees possible without compromising our academic standards.

Foundation phase: Grade R to Grade 3

Our foundation phase starts by providing the emotional and intellectual foundation required to handle the formal learning that starts in Grade 1. Through personal attention to learners in small class sizes, we then gradually develop learners’ 21st-century skills and knowledge in basic areas such as language (comprehension, speaking, and listening), mathematics (counting and understanding numbers), and creative problem-solving in an environment where they enjoy coming to school. As a Curro Academy school, our learners even benefit from having isiZulu as a conversational language as part of our enhanced curriculum – all included in our affordable school fees.

Intermediate phase: Grade 4 to Grade 7

In these grades, learners are taught to work with the learned material in an abstract yet logical manner. The nature of the content gradually builds from being tangible and real, to more intellectual and abstract. Our small class sizes and enhanced curriculum provides learners with an inherent dedication to hard work and excellence. Furthermore, our specialised subjects such as Information Technology and Robotics provide learners with 21st-century skills that give them a head start in the workplace of the future.

Our learners have a step-up day

Our Curro Academy primary school learners enjoy a step-up day where they spend time in the classrooms and playgrounds of their next grades. This experience helps them to grow familiar with what awaits them the next year, thereby relieving anxiety of the unknown – especially when learners are about to progress to a new phase.

Curro Academy Parkdene activities

We believe that sports and cultural plays an important role in providing learners with 21st-century skills such as team-awareness, collaboration and self-confidence. Therefore, our focused activities are designed to help learners discover their inherent talents, or to broaden their exposure beyond their current reference framework. Some of our activities are aimed at boosting learners’ cognitive abilities, while others provide pure enjoyment. These activities are generally included in our affordable school fees, although inter-school competitions and related travel may require an additional cost.

We offer Curro Create programmes

We offer Curro Arts Superhero (CAS) as part of the Curro Create initiative. CAS is an internal creative mentorship platform with a grading element, where learners are encouraged to discover, develop and display their inherent creative talents.

Curro Academy Parkdene community outreach

As a Curro Academy school, believe that outreach programmes are important not only to benefit the community, but also to develop appreciation and empathy in our learners. Therefore, we try to host one outreach programme per school term. Projects or beneficiaries can be identified by the school, learners, or parents, and learners are actively involved in all areas of the project.
