Curro Wilgeheuwel learner named U19 Best Defender 2025 by SuperSport Schools

Curro Wilgeheuwel is shining a spotlight on Grade 11 learner and Ruta Sechaba Sport scholar Tiago Kahn after SuperSport Schools named him U19 Best Defender 2025. His inclusion in the SuperSport Schools Class of 2025 identifies him as one of the country’s top 30 young athletes.

 

National recognition for defensive excellence

The school noted that the awards will be broadcast as a two-part special hosted by former Bafana Bafana captain Teko Modise on 6 and 13 December at 19:00 on SuperSport Schools, DStv Channel 216, as well as on the SuperSport Schools App.

Tiago has built a profile as a reliable and influential defender. According to the school, he ‘has played in the Curro Wilgeheuwel 1st team and was nominated Best 11 of the St Andrews Cup 2025.’ He contributed to his team’s success as ‘winners of the Independent Schools Soccer League, and finalists in the Waterstone Super cup,’ and the team reached the round of 16 in the Curro Halala Cup.

Beyond school matches, his club achievements with Panorama FC include winning the Engen Knock Out Champs Gauteng, where he scored the winning goal and was named Defender and Player of the Tournament. The team placed 3rd in the Engen Champ of Champs, and Tiago was named Panorama’s U19 Player of the Year.
