Curro hosts international junior tennis tournaments in Durban
04 September 2024Curro is set to host and sponsor two International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior tennis tournaments at Curro Hillcrest in Durban from 9 to 21 September 2024. These prestigious events, endorsed by Tennis South Africa, will bring top-ranked U18 boys and girls from around the globe to compete on South African soil.
ITF junior tournaments return to Hillcrest
After the success of the Curro Centre Court Series in June/July, Curro continues to promote tennis development in the country. The first tournament, J200, will run from 9 to 14 September, followed by the J300 from 16 to 21 September. These tournaments provide an important platform for young players to gain some much-needed experience.

South African talent on display
Top international juniors, including Turkey’s Ada Kumru (ranked 85th in the world), and local favourite Danielle Chapman (ranked 195th), will headline the girls’ draw. On the boys’ side, the Czech Republic’s Petr Brunclik, ranked 22nd, will take the top seeding. Several South African players, such as John Bothma and Connor Doig, are set to compete in the main draw, with others in the qualifying rounds.
A world-class tennis experience
Curro CEO Cobus Loubser highlighted the impact of hosting international tournaments: ‘Tennis is a major sport at our schools, and our involvement at this level gives South African players the chance to compete and be recognised. Many of our learners have made the leap into professional tennis.’
Selected matches will be broadcast on the Curro Sport YouTube channel, giving tennis fans the chance to witness future stars in action.
