Curro Holdings strengthens tennis development with J200 ITF sponsorship
09 September 2025Curro Holdings is supporting South African tennis by sponsoring the International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior tournament at Tuks Tennis Club, University of Pretoria. The event takes place over two weeks, from 8 to 13 September and 15 to 20 September 2025 and provides local and international junior players with the opportunity to compete at a high level and gain valuable exposure on the global stage.
The tournament follows the successful Curro Centre Court Series held at Curro Hillcrest in June and July this year. This J200 tournament, sanctioned by Tennis South Africa, will feature top-ranked junior U18 players from around the world competing in both boys' and girls' categories.

The significance of hosting J200 ITF events
Curro CEO Cobus Loubser said that platforms such as J200 are essential for developing local talent. “They give our players the chance to compete on an international stage. It is through these opportunities that many of our learners have progressed into the professional game. Curro aims to inspire generations of South African champions by creating opportunities and driving excellence in sport, which is why we have hosted ITF Junior Tournaments for top-ranking players from around the world over the past few years.”
Hosting J200 ITF tournaments plays an important role in the growth of tennis in the country. These events allow local junior players to earn valuable ITF ranking points without the high costs associated with international travel. The impact is clear: Connor Doig and Jahnie Van Zyl, following standout performances at the 2024 J200 events in Hillcrest, secured spots at the French Open juniors, highlighting the opportunities these tournaments create.
“Tennis South Africa is deeply grateful to Curro Holdings for their continued support of the growth and development of tennis in our country. Their longstanding investment in infrastructure and the hosting of world-class junior events has created invaluable opportunities for young South African athletes to compete and thrive on the international stage,” says Anthony Moruthane, General Manager of Tennis South Africa.
“The ITF tournaments taking place in Pretoria this year is more than a competition. They are incubators of excellence where upcoming talent is nurtured, and dreams begin to take shape. These events not only elevate the standard of junior tennis in South Africa but also promote global connections and inspire the next generation of champions within our sport.”
Beyond rankings, the international competition challenges local talent, exposing players to higher standards and diverse playing styles. Tennis South Africa can also award wildcards to promising national players, giving them essential early-career experience on a global stage.
The benefits extend beyond the players themselves. ITF-sanctioned tournaments enhance South Africa’s credibility in the global tennis community, attracting media attention and opening doors to potential partnerships. Economically, these events draw players, coaches, families, and officials from across the world, contributing to local revenue through accommodation, dining, and transport services.
By successfully hosting J200 events, South Africa not only develops its next generation of tennis talent but also strengthens its reputation as a premier destination for international tournaments.
Moruthane concluded: “We commend Curro for their vision and continued partnership, both in junior international tournaments and in the World Tennis Tour events we have hosted over the past few years.”
