Creston College celebrates national and international success
13 November 2025Creston College is celebrating a remarkable season of achievements across the arts and sport. Learners excelled in the Talent Africa competitions, earning multiple national awards and international selections, while two hockey players represented South Africa on an international tour in the Netherlands. These achievements highlight the diverse talents and drive of Creston’s learners.

Dancers excel at Talent Africa competitions
The college’s talented dancers Ella Caine and Shae Herbst shone at this year’s Talent Africa competitions.
Ella (Grade 10) represented KwaZulu-Natal at the Talent Africa Nationals in Vereeniging during the October school holidays. After qualifying at the regional competition earlier this year, she performed a ballet Pointe Solo that earned her a silver medal. She was also awarded her Federation of Performing Arts South Africa (FPASA) Provincial Colours and qualified to represent South Africa at two upcoming international events – Stars of the Universe and Mediterranean Legends.
Shae (Grade 8) earned a Gold Certificate for her ballet Pointe Solo during the regional season and went on to achieve a Platinum Award at the Nationals.
‘We are incredibly proud of both dancers for their exceptional achievements, dedication and passion for the performing arts,’ said the school.

Outstanding vocal and dance achievements
Kate Chivers (Grade 7) also excelled at the National Talent Africa Competition in Johannesburg, performing four songs across the Open, Rock, Pop, and Broadway categories. She earned one Platinum Medal and three Diamond Medals and was named Best Junior Vocalist Nationally in the under-16 category.
Thriyal Lalla (Grade 9) and her team received Gold Awards for their Charleston Group performance at both the Regional and National rounds. She was also awarded Provincial Federation Colours for representing her province at national level.
‘The team has now qualified to compete internationally, and we couldn’t be prouder of this exceptional accomplishment,’ said the school.

Hockey learners train in the Netherlands
Beyond the stage, two Creston College hockey players – Simoné van Heerden (Grade 12) and Zaiah Dennis (Grade 8) – joined an international hockey tour to the Netherlands from 6 to 16 October, alongside 148 other players.
They trained with former players, coaches, and current professionals, including members of Stichtsche Cricket and Hockey Club (SCHC) in Bilthoven, one of Europe’s leading clubs. Reflecting on the experience, Simoné said: ‘Just playing on the same field as them left me breathless.’
The tour also offered the girls a rich cultural experience when they cycled through towns, visited markets, and watched top-level matches.
