Kylie excels in gymnastics and mathematics

Courtney House International learner, Kylie Leung, has had an exceptional year after achieving national recognition in both sport and academics. On 6 October 2025, Kylie competed at the Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) National Championships and placed second overall in Level 6 (12 years). Her results included first place on bars, fourth on beam, and sixth on floor.

Gymnastics success at national level

The competition formed part of Gymnastics South Africa’s official calendar, which governs all national-level WAG events and ranking structures across the country. These competitions follow internationally recognised frameworks that ensure consistency in judging and progression through the levels.

‘We’re incredibly proud of her outstanding achievements in both academics and sport,’ said the school before adding exuberantly, ‘Well done, Kylie!’

Academic excellence beyond her grade

Kylie was also invited to the Junior International Mathematics Competition Organising Body South Africa (JIMCOBSA) October Girls Mathematics Training Camp in Stellenbosch. The programme is highly selective, since only 25 learners from across South Africa are chosen each year. From this elite group, four learners will advance to represent South Africa at the European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad in France in 2026.

Adding to her achievements, Kylie once again earned Gold in the South African Mathematics Olympiad.
