Curro Durbanville Preschool creates a space where little learners thrive
30 July 2025Curro Durbanville Preschool has unveiled a newly revamped space designed to support early development through comfort, creativity and calm. The redesign aims to help children feel confident from the very start of their learning journey with a focus on emotional ease and independence.

Designed with children in mind
Young learners explore, discover and grow best in spaces where they feel safe. At Curro Durbanville Preschool, the learning environment has been reshaped to support curiosity through play, imagination and meaningful interaction. Classrooms are arranged to encourage self-expression and gentle exploration, while furnishings and materials are chosen with growing hands and minds in mind.
‘We've seen that the best learning happens when children feel completely comfortable,’ says Riaan Stroebel, Executive Head at Curro Durbanville. ‘Not only physically safe, but emotionally at ease. When they're relaxed, that's when the magic happens.’
Every aspect of the layout plays an active role in learning – from child-friendly furniture and soft textures to activity zones that invite exploration.

Built for busy families too
The redesign also supports parents. Dedicated drop-off zones, separate entrances and upgraded security features help ease the rush of the morning routine. The transition to Grade R is familiar and seamless, in part because the preschool is located on the same campus as the primary school.

Growing confidence through movement and music
Swimming lessons for children aged 4 and 5 – as well as Grade R learners – form part of the weekly routine. These sessions, which are taught by experienced instructors, promote water safety and skill development while encouraging body awareness and joyful movement.
The GROW physical development sessions and daily music lessons are integrated into each child’s schedule. These activities help build confidence, motor skills and a sense of rhythm, supporting well-rounded growth in an age-appropriate way.
A preschool built on belonging
‘Learning is about more than simply gaining knowledge; it's about creating a place where children feel safe, inspired to explore, and empowered to discover the world around them,’ says Riaan.
Ultimately, Curro Durbanville Preschool provides a calm, inviting space where children are known, supported and given the freedom to flourish – step by step.
