Curro Westbrook learners shine in Eastern Cape choirs

Two Curro Westbrook learners have made their mark on the Eastern Cape choral scene, performing on some of the province’s most prominent stages.

Ben Malan performs with Eastern Cape Children’s Choir

Ben Malan recently took to the stage at the Mandela Bay Theatre Complex as part of a two-night musical showcase. He performed with the Eastern Cape Children’s Choir (ECCC), which collaborated with the world-renowned Drakensberg Boys Choir in a concert that celebrated the power of music.

Founded in 1982, the ECCC brings together 50 to 60 children, typically aged 10 to 13, from schools across Nelson Mandela Bay and surrounding areas. The choir offers musical training while reinforcing life skills such as teamwork, cooperation, and discipline through its weekly rehearsals and performances.

Gabriel Minnie joins Eastern Cape Junior Children’s Choir

Meanwhile, Gabriel Minnie performed with the Eastern Cape Junior Children’s Choir (ECJCC) at the end of July at DF Malherbe’s 70th Art Beat Concert.

The ECJCC nurtures singers aged 7 to 10, providing foundational voice technique and concert etiquette. The choir often performs at public events and serves as a feeder ensemble for the ECCC.

A proud moment for Curro Westbrook

Curro Westbrook celebrates both learners for their musical achievements and for representing the school in these prestigious choirs.
