Curro Salt Rock learner excels - Performing Arts Competition 2023

Meeka Rose, a learner from Curro Salt Rock, competed at the South African Nationals 2023 Performing Arts Competition. The competition was hosted by Talent Africa, in the Free State at the Etienne Rosseau Theatre. She represented KwaZulu-Natal.

Meeka Rose was recognized by the Federation of Performing Arts South Africa, earning her provincial colours. With over 4 000 entries, Meeka Rose also placed within the Top 10 highest-scoring Actors and Eisteddfod performers in the country. Acquiring 8 medals, 2 of which were Special Awards, where she earned the title of “Best Performer” in the Junior Eisteddfod category as well as “Best Technique” in the Junior Acting category.

On the merit of her outstanding achievements, she has also been selected to be a part of the South African Performing Arts team, which will be traveling to New York City next year. Meeka Rose will also compete in the International Performing Arts Championship (IPAC).

Her results are as follows:

  • Acting Dramatic: Diamond (90-100%)
  • Eisteddfod Dramatised Poetry: Diamond (90-100%)
  • Acting Open Afrikaans: Platinum (85-89%)
  • Creative Works Drawing: Platinum (85-89%)
  • Eisteddfod Persuasive Public Speaking: Gold (80-84%)
  • Eisteddfod Prepared Reading: Gold (80-84%)
  • Special Awards Acting – Juniors: Best Technique
  • Special Awards Eisteddfod – Juniors: Best Performer
