Curro Aurora Cheerleaders Achieve in Nationals

Curro Aurora's cheerleaders – 50 of them! – have just returned from Durban with 4 national trophies and 2 African trophies, showing they are the best in the business!

The school in Sundowner sent 18 primary and 32 high school learners to Queensmead Hockey Stadium, to compete at the South African Majorette and Cheerleading Association Nationals and the African Championships that followed. This was the most learners that we had sent to the event as we hoped to defend our primary school's all-girls and co-ed division titles from last year ...

... and we did exactly that! We maintained first place from the start to the very end of the tournament and winning the all-girl large division as well as the co-ed small division.

The high school learners cheered it out in a pool of 693 cheerleaders from schools and clubs across the country. Our team had already had a very successful season and won all participating categories at the Gauteng provincial championships just a few weeks earlier, including the co-ed and all-girl group stunts as well as the co-ed partner stunts.

Our teams came, saw, and conquered! The Blue Ice team won the all-girl small division and won gold in the junior all-girl division, while the Blue Storm team won the co-ed small division and won silver in the junior co-ed division.

This qualified both teams for the International Cheer Union African Cheerleading Championships.
