School activities

As a Curro Select school, we believe that participation in sports and cultural activities plays an important role in promoting health, team-awareness, discipline and 21st-century skills such as self-confidence. Our school has a strong sports performance record, and we offer a wide variety of activities. These activities are generally included in our affordable school fees (see Downloads), unless otherwise indicated.

See which activities we offer on our fact sheet (see Downloads).

Curro Create

At Windhoek Gymnasium high school, we offer two Curro Create programmes aimed at helping learners develop their creative talents to their full potential. Curro Arts Superhero (CAS) is an internal creative mentorship platform with a grading element, where learners are encouraged to discover, develop and display their inherent 21st-century skills and creative talents. Learners at Windhoek Gymnasium high school can also participate in the annual Curro Create National Youth Theatre Festival, for which schools enter a one-act play in any genre and official language. The winning plays are chosen through a series of adjudications by world-class theatre-makers, who closely mentor learners throughout the process. Some of these activities may include a cost in addition to our affordable school fees.

International exposure

As a Curro Select school, learners at Windhoek Gymnasium high school greatly benefit from having the option to be part of an annual cultural tour to Europe, as well as our bi-annual exchange programme to Germany.

Life enrichment periods

As part of our holistic approach to education, we have implemented life enrichment periods, to provide learners with 21st-century skills. These periods might not be included in our affordable school fees. As a Curro Select school, these life-enrichment periods include the following:

  • good manners and behaviour, including general politeness;
  • communication in relationships;
  • religious sessions (Jesus Our Teacher) in which our learners learn the principles of a Christian lifestyle (ethics and morals). These sessions are not related to any denomination; they purely address principles;
  • music lessons, during which learners are exposed to different instruments and encouraged to play them; and
  • art periods, in which learners can express themselves creatively.

Curro Alumni programme

Curro Alumni aims to reconnect former matriculants with one another and keep them updated on developments within the Curro family. By treasuring our past, we can build our future together. We hope to build a meaningful and personal connection with our members by sharing their success stories and staying updated on their lives through social media. Curro Alumni members enjoy several benefits, including exclusive offers for their children at selected schools. View the Curro Alumni website for more information.
