Academics
Waterstone College is an independent school in Kibler Park, Johannesburg, that provides high-quality education for learners from Grade R to Grade 7. Our dedicated teachers, well-rounded approach, small class sizes and enhanced curriculum empower learners with 21st-century skills and knowledge to grow into high-performing, self-confident individuals. While we adopt the latest research in providing a well-rounded education, we balance innovation with well-established, effective teaching methods. As a Curro Select school, we offer specialised subjects such as Robotics, excellent sports facilities, and competitive school fees.
Foundation phase: Grade R to Grade 3
With dedicated teachers and small class sizes, our foundation phase starts by providing the emotional and intellectual foundation required to handle the formal learning that starts in Grade 1. We then gradually develop learners’ skills and knowledge in basic areas such as language (comprehension, speaking, and listening), mathematics (counting and understanding numbers), and creative problem-solving in an environment where they enjoy coming to school. As a Curro Select school, our learners are introduced to project-based learning and they gain 21st-century skills through subjects such as Computer Skills, Music, Chess, and Technology. As part of our commitment to competitive school fees, our learners even benefit from being introduced to Robotics through Duplo Lego and having isiZulu as an additional language option.
Intermediate phase: Grade 4 to Grade 7
In these grades, learners are led into more abstract thought and independent work. Our small class sizes and dedicated teachers prepare them for high school by teaching them how to apply the 21st-century skills and concepts they have learned. As a Curro Select school, we also promote creativity and critical thinking by encouraging learners to make their own choices within well-established boundaries. Our enhanced curriculum includes specialised subjects such as Robotics, and learners may choose between Afrikaans and isiZulu as additional language options as part of our competitive school fees.

Christian values (ethics and morals)
Our school philosophy is based on Christian values (ethics and morals) and we believe in tackling life with faith, integrity, respect and excellence.
Activities at our school
As a Curro Select school, we believe that participation in school sports and cultural activities plays an important role in promoting health, team-awareness, discipline and self-confidence in addition to physical and social well-being. As our school has a strong performance record in school sport, we offer a wide variety of activities, supplemented by individual sports academies and a professional School of Arts aimed at further developing learners’ inherent 21st-century skills and talents. These activities are generally included in the school fees, unless otherwise stated.

Curro Create
We offer two Curro Create programmes aimed at helping learners develop their creative talents to their full potential. Curro Arts Superhero (CAS) is an internal creative mentorship platform with a grading element, where learners are encouraged to discover, develop and display their inherent creative talents. As a Curro Select school, learners can also participate in the annual Curro Create National Youth Theatre Festival, wherein schools enter a one-act play in any genre and official language. The winning plays are chosen through a series of adjudications by world-class theatre-makers, who closely mentor learners throughout the process.
Enrichment programme
Our enrichment programme provides learners from Grade 4 onwards with 21st-century skills and exposure to interesting hobbies during the school day. These activities change each term and further help to provide learners with a well-rounded education that stretches far beyond academics. Activities range from cooking, science experiments and walks in nature, to cardmaking, outdoor life skills and caring for the elderly.
Individual sports academies
At Waterstone College, our learners further benefit from individual sports academies in cricket, soccer, netball, swimming, and hockey, aimed at developing their inherent skills and talents, particularly when they show great aptitude for the sport. These academies are presented by professional coaches and have greatly contributed to our strong school sports performance record.
