Academics
Waterstone College is an independent school in Kibler Park, Johannesburg, that provides high-quality education for learners from Grade 8 to Grade 12. Our dedicated teachers, well-rounded approach, small class sizes and enhanced curriculum empower learners with 21st-century skills and knowledge to grow into high-performing, self-confident individuals. While we adopt the latest research in providing a well-rounded education, we balance innovation with well-established, effective teaching methods. We also offer Curro school scholarships.
Senior phase: Grade 8 and Grade 9
In these grades, we guide learners to adjust to a greater workload of higher intensity. As a Curro Select school, our enhanced curriculum places a great emphasis on problem-solving and individual thinking, while 21st-century learning is implemented in subjects such as Technology – including Robotics – and Natural Sciences. Our material even covers nanotechnology and Leonardo da Vinci’s inventions. Furthermore, learners from this phase may use tablets in class and receive guidance when choosing their elective subjects at the end of Grade 9.
FET phase: Grade 10 to Grade 12
As a Curro Select school, this phase prepares learners for the IEB examinations written at the end of Grade 12. However, we emphasise a greater world-readiness rather than a purely examination-driven approach. As an added benefit to going to school in small class sizes, our learners are taught to think innovatively, express their ideas and take charge of their own lives to one day reach their goals and become self-confident, achieving adults. Specialised subjects such as Engineering Graphics and Design (EGD), Visual Arts, and Music provide learners with 21st-century skills.
We use tablets in class
High school learners in our small class sizes may choose to use tablets in class rather than textbooks, which further provides them with 21st-century skills. Using innovative technology in class allows teachers to provide learners with information at the click of a button.

A wider subject choice
High school learners can now extend their subject choices beyond what is offered at our school. Learners can choose from a wide range of subjects, and classes will take place during the school day in the form of live lessons with teachers. These subjects can be seen as an extension of our enhanced curriculum from which our learners already benefit. Find out which subjects are available, and gain more information about this personalised learning experience.
Christian values (ethics and morals)
Our school philosophy is based on Christian values (ethics and morals) and we believe in tackling life with faith, integrity, respect and excellence.
Waterstone College scholarships
As a Curro Select school, we appreciate dedication and excellence. Therefore, we offer internal Curro school scholarships to current learners who excel in particular areas, as determined by the terms and conditions of the particular scholarship. We also offer scholarships each year to learners from other schools who exceed in these areas and would like to join our school. Please contact us for information on how to apply for these scholarships.
We accept Ruta Sechaba scholarship applications
The Ruta Sechaba Foundation provides Curro school scholarships, bursaries and awards to qualifying learners at Curro and Curro-managed schools. Applications are open for a pre-determined time and neither the school nor Curro Holdings have a direct influence on who receives scholarships. For more information on the Ruta Sechaba Foundation scholarship, send an email to ruta@curro.co.za.
