Meridian Pinehurst is an independent Curro-managed Meridian school in Pinehurst, Durbanville that offers high-quality education for learners from Grade R to Grade 7. With controlled class sizes, dedicated teachers and focused sports and cultural activities, we try to ensure affordable school fees without compromising our academic standards, 21st-century skills or our enhanced curriculum. Our learners also have the option to use tablets in class from Grade 6 onwards. Furthermore, as a school managed by Curro, teaching takes place in English, while Afrikaans and isiXhosa (from Grade 7) are offered as additional language options.
As a Meridian school, our school is managed by Curro as part of a joint venture with Old Mutual and the Public Investment Corporation.
Foundation phase: Grade R to Grade 3
With dedicated teachers and affordable school fees, our foundation phase starts by providing the emotional and intellectual foundation required to handle the formal learning that starts in Grade 1. Through our enhanced curriculum, we then gradually develop learners’ 21st-century skills and knowledge in basic areas such as language (comprehension, speaking, and listening), mathematics (counting and understanding numbers), and creative problem-solving in an environment where they enjoy coming to school. As a Meridian school, learners even benefit from having Afrikaans as an additional language option.
Intermediate phase (Grade 4 to Grade 6) and Grade 7
In these grades, learners are taught to work with the learned material in an abstract manner. The nature of the content gradually builds from being tangible and real, to more intellectual and abstract. We also prepare our learners for high school by teaching them to work more independently and how to apply the material (21st-century skills and concepts) they have learned rather than just memorising it. Through our enhanced curriculum, we also promote creativity and critical thinking by encouraging them to make their own choices within well-established boundaries.
We use tablets in class
Learners from Grade 6 onwards may choose to use tablets (e-books) rather than textbooks in the classroom. Using tablets in class allows teachers to provide learners with a wealth of information at the touch of a button and gives them a head start in the workplace of the future.

Meridian Pinehurst activities
At Meridian Pinehurst, we believe that participation in sports and cultural activities plays an important role in promoting health, discipline, self-confidence and community. Therefore, our focused sports and cultural activities are designed to help learners discover their inherent talents, or to broaden their exposure beyond their current reference framework as part of our affordable school fees.
Furthermore, our specialised extramural activities are offered by external tutors or coaches. These activities are offered at an additional cost and generally take place on the school’s premises
We have Curro Create programmes
We also offer Curro Arts Superhero (CAS) as part of the Curro Create initiative. CAS is an internal creative mentorship platform with a grading element, where learners are encouraged to discover, develop and display their inherent creative talents.
