Grantleigh Nursery School is an independent nursery school situated just north of Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. We provide high-quality early childhood development for children from 3 years to 5 years. As a Curro Select school, our small class sizes allow our dedicated teachers to engage each child in our internally developed play-based curriculum and build strong, caring relationships with each child. Our school philosophy is based on Christian values (ethics and morals) and we believe in fostering children’s development so that they can each reach their dreams.
What does Grantleigh offer?
At Grantleigh Nursery School, we provide a safe, nurturing environment with small class sizes, where children are cared for and engaged in play-based developmental activities. Our classrooms are designed to encourage educational curiosity and our playgrounds are equipped with play structures that inspire physical development through movement and play.
How does Grantleigh support my child’s early childhood development?
Our internally developed programme is designed with the Early Learning and Development Areas (ELDAs) in mind and aims to stimulate physical, social, emotional and cognitive well-being through developmental activities and engaging play areas. ELDAs focus on aspects such as gross-motor development, fine-motor development, social awareness, communication, spatial awareness and arts.
We focus on the ELDAs
By incorporating the latest research in physical and cognitive development, our carefully designed playgrounds, safety measures, small class sizes and daily programmes create a safe and fun-filled home away from home.
See what we offer on our fact sheet (see Downloads).
As a Curro Select school, we believe that swimming is an important skill that should be acquired during the early childhood development phase to ensure water safety. We therefore offer swimming as an extramural activity. This is offered by an external coach, at an additional cost.
Grantleigh community outreach
As a Curro Select school based on Christian values (ethics and morals), we express the biblical principle of loving thy neighbour by improving the lives of less-fortunate members of our community. Therefore, our school hosts a variety of community outreach programmes during the year and learners are actively involved in the projects. Children in the nursery school generally join the primary school to support community outreach programmes by collecting items for a particular cause, thereby being introduced to the concept of helping the community. They collect stationery for previously disadvantaged schools and other items for programmes such as:
