Curro Waterfall Primary School

Academics

Curro Waterfall is an independent Curro School with a primary school phase situated in Waterfall Country Village, Midrand, that provides high-quality education to learners from Grade R to Grade 6, with a focus on developing 21st-century skills through a well-rounded, holistic education. Our small class sizes and enhanced curriculum (which includes the use of tablets in class) empower learners with skills and knowledge to grow into self-confident individuals.

Foundation phase: Grade R to Grade 3

With dedicated teachers and small class sizes, our foundation phase starts by providing the emotional and intellectual foundation required to handle the formal learning that starts in Grade 1. Through our enhanced curriculum we then gradually develop learners’ 21st-century skills and knowledge in basic areas such as language (comprehension, speaking, and listening), mathematics (counting and understanding numbers), and creative problem-solving in an environment where they enjoy coming to school. As a Curro School, learners even benefit from being introduced to Robotics through Duplo Lego. Teaching takes place in English, but Afrikaans and isiZulu are offered as additional language options.

Intermediate phase: Grade 4 to Grade 6

In these grades, learners are taught to work with the learned material in an abstract manner. The nature of the content gradually builds from being tangible and real, to more intellectual and abstract. Our small class sizes and enhanced curriculum provide learners with an inherent dedication to hard work and excellence as well as 21st-century skills through specialised subjects such as Natural Sciences and Robotics. As a Curro School teaching takes place in English, but Afrikaans and isiZulu are offered as additional language options.

We use tablets in class

Curro Waterfall is a Microsoft partner school, engaging with Microsoft 365 and its educational platform. Learners from intermediate phase onwards may use tablets in class or other electronic devices rather than textbooks. By exposing learners to the daily use of technology, they are better prepared for the challenges of tertiary studies as well as the ever-changing workplace of the future.

As a Microsoft partner school, teaching and learning are integrated with Microsoft 365 and its educational platform. This includes full access to Wi-Fi, document cameras, SMARTboards, and project-based learning through innovative lessons.

See which subjects we offer on our fact sheet (see Downloads).
