Aftercare

Our aftercare service is hosted by an external provider and is available at an additional cost. Learners are accommodated in safe classrooms and our open grass space for relaxation until you can pick them up late in the afternoon. Please contact us to find out more about this service.

Classrooms promote serenity

Our classrooms are designed to promote concentration and serenity, while our daily school times and schedules remain consistent throughout the year. This creates a great sense of security for learners prone to emotional or anxiety-related needs. We also minimise visual and tactile obstacles by considering the learning environment as a whole. Overhead lights are strategically placed, assessments are often printed on off-yellow paper rather than stark white paper, font sizes are often enlarged on assessments, and learners may apply for other assessment accommodations during exams.

Learner support team

We have an on-site team of specialist therapists who assist learners who need more help than can be provided in the classroom. These sessions take place in a dedicated classroom and in small groups. Our occupational therapist helps to improve young learners’ gross motor, fine motor, visual-perception and sensory-motor skills so they are able to manage their own learning barriers and master basic skills such as reading, writing, cutting, colouring, and more. Our educational psychologist guides learners in social and personal development, setting academic goals and improving anxiety-based behavioural matters.

Curro Uitzicht has a primary school in Uitzicht, Cape Town. We specialise in assisted learning for learners from Grade 1 to Grade 7. This is a specialised approach to the excellent Curro education, where learners receive additional support to achieve core academic competencies. We have small class sizes, aftercare, consistent routines, and we form part of the Curro school group.
