At Curro Serengeti, a Curro School, learners have a wide variety of activities from which to choose. From school sports, Curro Create programmes, and community outreach initiatives our learners can gain 21st-century skills in nearly any field they choose.

School activities

We believe that participation in school sports and cultural activities plays an important role in promoting health, team-awareness, discipline and self-confidence in addition to physical and social well-being. Therefore, learners are encouraged to participate in our variety of school sports and cultural activities, including specialised activities such as golf and swimming. While healthy competition is encouraged, the enjoyment of the game is not compromised. Our learners also take part in various competitions, art exhibitions, revues and talent shows where they showcase their creative talents and 21st-century skills.

We have sports academies

Our intermediate phase learners have the opportunity to participate in various sports academies which include cricket, soccer, rugby, hockey, netball, golf and swimming.

Value-added programmes

At Curro Serengeti our foundation phase learners further benefit from value-added offerings which include Curro internal assessments, excursions, language enrichment classes, computer skills and robotics classes as well as supervised homework at aftercare, extra lessons, private activities (Fridays only) and on-site therapists (speech, remedial, occupational).

Curro Create

As a Curro School, we offer Curro Create programmes aimed at helping learners develop their creative talents to their full potential. Curro Arts Superhero (CAS) is an internal creative mentorship platform with a grading element, where learners are encouraged to discover, develop and display their inherent 21st-century skills and creative talents. Learners can also participate in the annual Curro Create National Youth Theatre Festival, wherein schools enter a one-act play in any genre and official language. The winning plays are chosen through a series of adjudications by world-class theatre-makers, who closely mentor learners throughout the process.

Extramural activities (foundation phase)

Extramural activities at our Curro School are offered by external tutors or coaches. They are offered at a cost additional to our school fees and generally take place on the school’s premises. At Curro Serengeti extramural activities include Curro Tennis and Valkie Rugby.

Curro Serengeti community outreach

At Curro Serengeti, we believe that community outreach programmes are important not only to benefit the community, but also to develop appreciation and empathy in our learners. Therefore, we host various community outreach programmes during the year and learners are actively involved in all areas of the projects.
