Curro Nelspruit is a leading independent Curro School situated in the tranquil hills of The Rest Nature Estate, Nelspruit (Mbombela). Our high school phase provides a holistic, well-rounded education to learners from Grade 8 to Grade 12. Our small class sizes and enhanced curriculum offered in English and Afrikaans empower learners with 21st-century skills and knowledge to grow into self-confident individuals, while our well-rounded approach prepares them for the IEB examinations at the end of Grade 12. With specialised subjects, the use of tablets in class and dedicated teachers, we are the school of choice.
Senior phase: Grade 8 and Grade 9
In these grades, we guide learners to adjust to a greater workload of higher intensity. With dedicated teachers and small class sizes, our enhanced curriculum approach places great emphasis on problem-solving and individual thinking. Teaching takes place in English or Afrikaans, and 21st-century skills are implemented in subjects such as Technology (including Robotics) and Engineering Graphics and Design (EGD). Learners benefit from choosing English or Afrikaans as a language of instruction and have the option to take Siswati as an additional language. As a Curro School, our learners also receive guidance when choosing their elective subjects at the end of Grade 9. Our learners may even use tablets in class rather than textbooks or as an additional learning tool.
FET phase: Grade 10 to Grade 12
This phase prepares learners for the IEB examinations written at the end of Grade 12. However, through our enhanced curriculum, we emphasise a greater world-readiness rather than a purely examinations-driven approach. Our learners are taught to think innovatively, express their ideas and take charge of their own lives to be valued members of the community. Learners in our small class sizes benefit by choosing English or Afrikaans as a language of instruction, with Siswati offered as an additional language. As a Curro School, some of our specialised subjects promote the development of 21st-century skills, include Engineering Graphics and Design (EGD) and Computer Applications Technology (CAT).
We use tablets in class
Our learners may choose to use tablets in class rather than textbooks, or as an additional tool to enhance teaching and learning. Using technology in class further prepares them for the workplace of the future.
We have subject-specific excursions
All our high school learners benefit from various subject-specific excursions, as well as an advanced programme in Mathematics (senior phase). Learners also have the opportunity to write international benchmark and core skills tests, and we have a full academic support programme.

A wider subject choice
Our learners can now extend their subject choices beyond what is offered at our school. Learners can choose from a wide range of subjects, and classes will take place during the school day in the form of live lessons with teachers. These subjects can be seen as an extension of our enhanced curriculum from which our learners already benefit. Learners remain enrolled at our school, assignments and examinations still take place, and the marks reflect on their regular progress reports.
